The Research Symposium is in recognition of National Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day, which is commemorated on October 24, and of Pathways to Wellness’ 20th anniversary.

Welcoming remarks will be delivered by Richard Glickman-Simon, MD, Associate Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts School of Medicine.

A panel discussion will be facilitated by Harvey Zarren, MD, President of the Board of Directors of the Integrative Medical Alliance.

The following panelists will present brief descriptions of their work:

• Julie Dunn (New England School of Acupuncture) - acupuncture/neutropenia study • Bei Chang (BU School of Public Health and Boston Veterans Administration) - use of acupuncture and the relaxation response in two studies • Ellen Highfield (Boston Medical Center) - patient satisfaction survey (acupuncture) at BMC • Robert Saper (BMC) - yoga study • Paula Gardiner (BMC) - use of massage with cancer patients
